Marketing analytics, tracking and attribution

We implement GA4, tag management and CRM connection so spend can be traced to pipeline, not just to a form fill, using an attribution model that reflects how your buying group actually moves through multiple touches before a deal closes.

What this covers

What does marketing attribution and analytics implementation actually cover?

Making it possible to say, with evidence, which channel and which campaign actually produced a piece of pipeline. Most companies can count leads. Very few can trace a closed deal back through the touches that produced it, and that gap is where marketing budget gets misallocated for years.

  • Measurement plan. What gets tracked, why, and how it maps to the decisions the business actually needs to make.
  • GA4 and tag implementation. Event tracking, conversion definitions and Google Tag Manager configuration, built to survive a site redesign rather than break on the next one.
  • CRM connection. Ad platforms and analytics tied to the CRM so a lead can be traced from first touch to closed won, not just to form submission.
  • Offline conversion import. Qualified and closed-won outcomes pushed back into the ad platforms so bidding can optimize toward revenue rather than form fills.
  • Server-side tracking. Applied where browser-side measurement is genuinely losing meaningful signal, not by default, since it adds infrastructure that has to be maintained.
  • Dashboards. Built for the people who read them, leadership and channel owners, not a data dump that requires a query to answer a simple question.

Attribution models

Which attribution model should a B2B company actually use?

Whichever one matches how the business actually buys, not whichever one a platform defaults to. Last-click undercounts every channel except the one that closes the deal. First-click undercounts everything except the one that opened it. Most B2B buying groups touch four or more channels before a deal closes, so a model that only credits one is measuring the wrong thing.

What we set up

  • A model that reflects the real buying group, usually multi-touch
  • Consistent tracking across every channel, so the model has complete data to work with
  • Reporting that shows contribution, not just the final touch

Where the model matters most

  • Deciding whether to scale or cut a channel
  • Explaining why a cheap channel is not actually cheap
  • Defending a budget decision to leadership with evidence

Why this gets skipped

Why is attribution usually the thing that never gets built?

Because it is invisible when it is missing. A company without proper attribution still has a dashboard, still has numbers, still makes decisions. The numbers are just measuring the wrong thing, and nothing about that is obvious from looking at a report that appears complete.

What incomplete attribution looks like

  • A dashboard that reports leads but not qualified pipeline
  • Numbers that do not reconcile between the ad platform and the CRM
  • A cheap channel that looks efficient because its leads are never checked for quality

What we fix first

  • Whether conversions are defined against qualification, not form fills
  • Whether the CRM and the ad platforms actually agree on outcomes
  • Whether the dashboard leadership reads is the one that reflects reality

How it fits into an engagement

Attribution runs inside every engagement model, not as its own contract

In an Operations Audit, tracking and attribution are usually the first thing reviewed, since every other finding depends on whether the underlying data can be trusted. In an Operations Build, tracking and attribution infrastructure are built before channels are scaled, deliberately in that order. Under Embedded Management, dashboards and attribution get monitored and corrected as the stack changes, so the numbers stay trustworthy rather than drifting quietly wrong over months until a decision made on them turns out to have been built on nothing.

Delivered inside Operations Audit & Strategic Blueprint · Operations Build & Enablement · Embedded Operations Management rather than as a standalone contract.

Who this is for

Companies where tracking was set up once by whoever was available, a founder, a generalist, an agency that has since moved on, and never revisited by a specialist. They can report lead volume but cannot say which channel actually produces revenue, and are often scaling paid spend on the strength of a dashboard nobody has verified reconciles with the CRM.

Questions

Common questions

Do you implement GA4 from scratch or fix an existing setup?

Both, depending on what exists. Most engagements start with an audit of the current implementation, since a surprising share of GA4 setups are collecting data that does not match what the business actually needs to decide.

What is offline conversion import, and why does it matter?

It pushes qualified and closed-won outcomes back into the ad platforms, so bidding algorithms optimize toward revenue instead of toward whoever fills in a form. Without it, a platform will happily spend your budget on cheap, low-quality leads because that is the only signal it can see.

Do we need server-side tracking?

Only where browser-side measurement is genuinely losing meaningful signal, usually from ad blockers or privacy restrictions in your specific audience. It is not applied by default, because it adds infrastructure that has to be maintained and most companies do not need it yet.

How long before attribution data is reliable enough to act on?

Implementation itself takes two to four weeks. Reliable volume for decision-making usually needs six to twelve weeks of data, depending on deal velocity and traffic. We say clearly when a number is still too thin to act on rather than presenting it as settled, since a decision made on premature data is often worse than one made with none.
